Regional Prosperity for Northeast Ohio: Growing Together

How can the communities of Northeast Ohio come together to create an environment for sustainable economic prosperity? What are the connections between job growth, economic development, equity and government collaboration? What are the next steps?

For over two years, the Northeast Ohio Regional Prosperity Initiative (RPI) has been working on advancing solutions to these problems, mainly by focusing on the importance of region-wide land use planning and new growth tax-base sharing. “The interest in developing these solutions has been strong,” Kathy Hexter, Director of the Center for Community Planning at Cleveland State University, says.

“RPI has been working on these issues for a while now, but we feel that we need to take the next steps on our way. Hopefully this forum will get some energy around that” Hexter explains.

The Growing Together forum accompanies the broadcast of The New Metropolis on WVIZ/Ideastream on January 23rd and January 30th. It features a moderated panel with state legislators, policymakers and round table discussions for members of the community. Filmmaker Andrea Torrice will open the forum discussion with clips from her documentary film The New Metropolis.

Sponsored by: The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, Cleveland State University, together with Ideastream, the Civic Commons, Northeast Ohio First Suburbs Consortium, Torrice Productions, Greater Ohio, the Center for Community Solutions and the Regional Prosperity Initiative.
